Summer Discount Program Launches July 1st with 65 Participants

TAMPA, Fla. (July 01, 2011) — The Tampa Downtown Partnership launched its popular Summertime Savings Card program today!

The Summertime Savings Card is a “show your card and save” discount program offering amazing discounts at 65 of downtown’s most popular restaurants, retailers, service providers and entertainment venues.

All downtown merchants, restaurants, service providers, cultural and entertainment establishments were invited to participate in this year’s program at no charge.

The Summertime Savings Card includes a brochure listing the names, addresses, telephone numbers, website and the discount being offered at the Sixty-Five (65) participating establishments in the program.  All participating venues are also listed at www.tampasdowntown.com/summertime

A detachable discount card is included with the brochure and can be stored in the consumer’s wallet or purse.  The customer will receive the discount at the participating establishment by showing the card.  The consumer retains the card to use over and over again throughout the dates of the program.

Customers will be able to identify participating venues easily. Each venue has been provided a window cling to display stating that they are a participating merchant.

To familiarize card holders with downtown Tampa, the Summertime Savings Card brochure contains a map. The map highlights major downtown landmarks, parking garages and other urban features such as Tampa’s Riverwalk.

The Partnership has also added a special tab on its new mobile-friendly website (m.tampasdowntown.com) allowing people to locate a participating venue on their smart phone, i-Pad or other handheld electronic devices.

Card holders are encouraged to subscribe to a weekly newsletter sent out on Wednesdays throughout the duration of the program.  The newsletter will highlight participating venues each week.  A section in the newsletter called “Explore the Core” will offer ways to maximize savings while utilizing the card through mini downtown itineraries.  For more details, log onto www.tampasdowntown.com/summertime.

The Summertime Savings Card program is valid July 1, 2011 through September 5, 2011 – Labor Day.  Brochures and the detachable cards are free and can be obtained by visiting one of the participating venues; by requesting a brochure from Tampa’s Downtown Guides; or visiting the offices of the Tampa Downtown Partnership at 400 N. Ashley Drive, Suite 2125 in downtown Tampa.

Details on where to find a brochure and card are available at www.tampasdowntown.com/summertime.

A total of 26,500 brochures have been produced of which 12,255 brochures were directly mailed to residents of downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods.  The Partnership also mailed packets of 50 brochures to businesses in downtown with 50 or more employees.  The total number of brochures distributed to businesses was 6,950.  The remainder of the brochures will be available through the distribution points mentioned.

Downtown businesses participating in the program have been asked by the Tampa Downtown Partnership to report the number of people who utilize the discount program in order to track its effectiveness.
